One of the biggest problems for many sales people is in finding a constant stream of new prospects. While some companies provide leads for their sales team, others do not. But what if you could come up with your own prospects regardless of if your company helps you with this or not? You could become one of the top sales people in your company and your actions would get noticed.
The sales teams of today have one huge advantage and that is the internet. Years ago sales people had to rely on direct mailing, advertising in magazines and newspapers and the dreaded cold calls. The internet has made it easy for everyone to be more accessible and the demand for printed advertising has dropped, to a certain extent.
When it comes to using the internet to find leads you want to consider using social media sites. People spend a lot of their time on sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn. So it makes sense that you should look for prospects on these sites to.
One of the best ways to do this is to set up your own pages or streams around your business niche. While you may not be able to use your company name, you can still set up something around the products or services. Then you simply post informational tips and news relating to this industry.
As you gain more fans your exposure will increase and your name will become linked to your industry. When potential clients or customers have questions or need further information they will seek you out.
One way to get noticed on social media is to use a lot of images and photographs. If possible use ones that are related to what your company offers.
At the same time it is nice to inject your own personality onto your pages. You can achieve this by taking photos of places of interest that you visit, when out on your sales call. If there is a local event going on, highlight it.
This way you are offering business information with a touch of your personality mixed in. People love this and will readily share entertaining photos to their own walls and streams. This helps you reach more people indirectly.
