Using Self Affirmations to Create a Positive Mindset
Have you ever thought about using self affirmations to improve your life? Many people have and while some have had good results others didn’t experience any changes. Is there a reason for this?
The main reason for affirmations not working would be simply because they are not done correctly. When reading your affirmations or quotes it is really important to say them out loud and not just read them to yourself. Research has shown that by speaking the words out loud they become more powerful.
Look at it this way, have you ever thought about losing weight and never done it. But if you tell your spouse or a friend that what your goal is you are more likely to take action. Affirmations work in the same way.
So the best way to make affirmations work for you is to do the following:
• Speak them out loud daily
• Mean what you say
• Have faith in the affirmations that it will truly work for you
• Take action during the day to make your affirmations become a reality
This last step is another important factor. If you say the words out loud each day but don’t act upon them, then you can’t really expect things to change. Again, let’s compare it with losing weight. If you say you want to lose 10 pounds but never change your eating or exercise habit is that 10 pound loss going to become a reality, of course not!
So you must believe that what you are saying to yourself is true and this is why it is important to choose the right affirmation. It must have a solid meaning for you. If not you are just wasting your time.
You want to use positive affirmations to create positive thinking. For example use “I am feeling healthier each day”. Affirmations have worked extremely well for thousands of people and can really help give you a new outlook on life.
Positive affirmations can be categorized even further depending upon your end goal. You can easily find websites which list affirmations in categories such as weight loss, self esteem, happiness, wealth and there are even affirmations for children.
If you plan on using this method to create a positive mindset remember it will take some time to form your new way of thinking. Treat it as though you are creating a new habit and inside a month you should see positive changes.
