Just what is happiness? Many people have different views on this but the most commonly agreed upon definition is:
Happiness is a mental state of well being encompassing feelings like thankfulness, enjoyment and joy. Living a meaningful life can make you happy as you use your knowledge and your time to leading your life with a purpose.
Feeling happy for most people can be achieved by becoming part of a community. Humans have a strong desire to ‘belong’ somewhere. People become happy when they make an effort to do something. This can be learning a new skill, helping someone or just doing anything that gives them pleasure.
Living a meaningful life is thought by many to be the path to happiness. But just how do you achieve this? One way is to sit down and think about what you truly want to do with your life and then taking action to make this happen.
How many times have you wished or thought about how your life could be? You don’t take action so your daily life becomes a mundane routine. What is stopping you from changing your life?
One of the biggest reasons that people don’t chase their dreams is because of fear. Fear of the unknown or of ‘what if’ is huge and is an enormous road block for many people.
While being happy has a lot to do with your own emotional feelings and well being. Your state of happiness can be influenced by outside factors. Mainly by those around you, have you ever noticed that if you are with a group of people who are feeling dejected you start to feel the same way too?
Other people can easily reflect their mood and feelings onto you and you take this mood on without even realizing it. This is why it is important to surround yourself with well meaning people and people who are taking positive action in their lives.
Many people assume that money will buy them happiness and while it will to some point money can’t buy you everything you need. Money cannot boost your well being or your feelings but doing good things with your money can. Have you ever considered giving some money to charity? You may be surprised at how your act of generosity will be received. This thankfulness can really explode that joyful feeling inside of you and make you happy.
There are so many things which contribute to your happiness. Live your life in the best way you can, create you bucket list and do each thing on it.
